Zdenek Sofer (born 1981 in Plzen, Czech Republic) received his MSc (Ing.) in Technology of Advanced Inorganic Materials, UCT Prague in 2004;
Ph.D. in Inorganic Chemistry, UCT Prague in 2008;
Assoc. Prof. of Inorganic Chemistry, UCT Prague in 2013.
Prof. of Inorganic Chemistry, UCT Prague in 2019.
Visiting scientist in Forschungszentrum Jülich (PGI-9; 2004-2005; 10 months) and Universität Duisburg-Essen (Dept. of Semiconductor Technology; 2008-2009; 3 months).
Currently he led a research group concerning on 2D nanomaterials. His laboratory is equipped for synthesis and characterization of graphene and other 2D nanomaterials like transition metal dichalcogenides, pnictogens, silicene, germanene and many others. Z. Sofer is PI of Czech Science Foundation EXPRO project focused on 2D materials beyond graphene.
Research activities:
Synthesis, characterization and chemical modification of 2D nanomaterials - graphene and its derivatives, transition metal dichalcogenides, pnictogens, silicene, germanene, MXene and other 2D nanomaterials. Electrochemistry of 2D nanomaterials and their applications for electrocatalysis, sensors, energy storage and conversion.
